Corinna M Chute

Registered Teacher: Royal Academy of Dance

Corinna Chute started dancing at the age of 3 with Dame Marie Rambert's daughter while living in Thailand.  She entered Elmhurst Ballet School at 9 and at 16 joined the Royal Ballet School on the Teachers Course.

Her first professional engagement was a two year contract with an Italian touring operetta company, after which she moved to Rome to join a musical theatre company where she graduated from corps de ballet to soloist within three years and later to television.

In 1983, after a break of five years, Corinna returned to professional dance by joining the Dutch modern jazz company "Djazzex".

In 1983 she formed the modern dance company "Serein" and toured Holland, Belgium and England performing at theatres including Sadler's Wells and Queen Elizabeth Hall in London.

During the period 1982 -1988 Corinna taught as a freelance teacher of Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Tap, giving classes to children and adults in local schools and professional dance institutions in Holland.

After participating in training courses with the Cuban National Ballet she began promoting international links between European dance companies and Cuba.

This led to the foundation of the first foreign Artistes Management Agency in Havana, in partnership with Ronnie Scott and Pete King, to promote Cuba's Jazz and Salsa musicians.

In September 2004 Backstage Dance and Theatre opened its doors at the Bank Mill Dance Centre in Berkhamsted.
